Borza’s

Tasting a warm homemade dish is like no other, but not everyone has the time or cooking skills of their grandma. Borza provides a modern take on generational homemade dishes. The company strives to celebrate Hungarian flavor through convenient options for classic comfort food.

The Face Behind Borza’s

Growing up I have always been surrounded by Hungarian cooking and culture. My project is focused on my great-grandmom Borza who grew up in Veszprem, Hungary during the 1920’s and immigrated to the United States when she was only 19 years old. She immigrated to New York through Ellis Island and worked as a chef for a wealthy family, where she gained her love of cooking.

When Great Grandmom Borza got married and had my Grandmother she passed down her favorite recipes. They bonded over their shared love for cooking and later taught my father how to cook classic Hungarian dishes. He has since shared these recipes with me and any time I add paprika to a meal I will always think of Grandmom Borza.

My great-grandmom Borza lived to be 101 years old and positively impacted everyone around her with her bold personality and homemade cooking. Chicken paprikash has always been a family favorite and I want to keep her legacy alive through this project.
